Well, school is off to a great start this year… Daniel is finishing his first full week of school today.
I’ve got to tell you, I have a feeling this is going to be a great year. That’s his teacher on the right up above.
She’s so full of love and wisdom where children are concerned – what a blessing!
It was her idea that we have a class picnic out here on the homestead, so that the newcomers could get to know everybody before school started.
What a fabulous idea! I could see some serious bonding going on out there.
And it gave us parents a chance to get to know each other outside of school.
We had such a good time that I’ve decided to make this a tradition.
The trampoline was a big hit…
The hammock was turned over a time or two…
Daniel, our resident fisherman, helped his friends with their fishing.
Did I mention the trampoline?
Yep. Big hit.
The girls were enamored with the hens, but afraid of them nonetheless. Sara Lynn to the rescue!
Looking back, I probably should have had a few rules where the trampoline was concerned…
But no injuries, so all is good.
I can’t believe that our summer vacation is officially over. Can’t. Believe. It.
I’m on the verge of planting my fall garden. Football season and cooler weather are just around the corner…
Hallelujah! I can’t take much more of this heat. Seriously, it’s the hottest summer we have on record.
Many, many days of 100+ degree days.
Come on over October…. I’ll be your best friend.

What a blast!
I'm looking forward to Fall too, the only problem I have with Fall is it doesn't stick around long enough for me. I could take 6 months of fall and 6 months of spring.
I agree this summer was just too hot.... We so enjoyed our pool this year though. Looking forward to a few more weeks in the pool and then it will be over until next spring.
Are you ready for some football???? I AM!!!
That is really a great idea! When you have a homesteaders retreat, please send me an invitation....I think I could actually get comfy in that hammock! For about a month I've been saying bad words....I keep repeating, "I can't believe I'm going to say this, but I will be glad to see winter!" Then I go wash my mouth out with soap!!! We had like 6 ft of snow that winter!!!!!
Teri, I am BEYOND ready for football season... and MUCH more importantly, cooler weather. I bet it was nice to be able to take a dip in the pool this summer. : )
Diane, I'm hearing you! I do this at the end of every season... I'm always ready for the changing of the seasons. How good God is to give us this gift! I can't say I'm looking forward to winter (we also had the coldest winter on record this past year) but I am uber-ready for fall!!!
What a wonderful idea...it looked all everyone had a super time. Yep a good tradition to be starting. Our summer just started so I'm hoping for warm temps (80 degrees) until Thanksgiving!!! Kim
How wonderful to host a class picnic at your beautiful homestead, and what a great way to start the school year! Sure looks like everyone had an amazing time. Blessings to you and those precious children!
I can imagine all those cute little kidletts with sweet Southern accents. Adorable.
That really is a great idea, a sense of community is so good for everyone - well done!
We are fine now, hope you all are too, how is your neck?
Kim, I hope we both get the weather we're looking for! Looks like we should be able to meet in the middle (weather-wise) once in a while... we'd be doing good then!
Rhetta, it was a wonderful day for all of us... thanks!
Maybelline, Southern accents come no thicker than in these parts! Our kids seems to have a more exagerated (if that's even possible) drawl than parents around here... not sure how it happens, but it does. : )
Ann, the neck isn't better, but I'm holding my own. I'm starting an exercise regimen that targets chronic spinal pain next week. Hoping for good results!
